This Avocado Smoothie has avocados, orange juice and yogurt in it making it a triple bonanza for healthy skin!

Avocado Smoothie

It’s Tuesday, Ravishing Tuesday! The first in my list is avocado. I want to list out all the benefits of avocado without getting too technical and boring. I’ll try my best to that!

1)      Avocados are a great source of antioxidant carotenoids. These protect your skin from environmental damage. We all know what environmental damage can lead to- fine lines, wrinkles and other visible signs of aging :O

2)      Avocado contains both vitamin C and vitamin E. While vitamin C binds your skin cells together and maintains their while vitamin E reduces effects of sun exposure.

3)      Another important one is the high oleic acid content in avocados which maintains moisture in skin, keeping it soft and supple. It also reduces redness and irritation.

There are many more benefits that I researched but I think covered the most important ones.

Orange juice and yogurt also feature in the list of healthy foods for skin. Although I am not including them in the current series of Ravishing Tuesdays, do not under estimate the magnificent effects of these either.

Before we head to the recipe, the BAD for skin I am listing today is SALT. Excess salt makes your face seem puffy and unhealthy and aggravates acne.

In Short, Today’s Good: Avocado; Today’s Bad: Excess salt.

I repeat, it’s more important to make sure that the good foods are made a part of your diet, so go ahead and enjoy them in any form!

Avocado Smoothie

Here is the

Avocado Smoothie Recipe:


Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 5 minutes

Total Time: 10 minutes

Serves: 2-3


  • 2 small avocados
  • 1 and 1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice (or 100% orange juice with no added sugar)
  • 2-3 Dried Figs
  • 1 tbsp chopped pistachios
  • 1 tsp sugar (If required)
  • 2-3 tbsp Greek Yogurt


  1. Blend all the ingredients on low speed.
  2. Add extra orange juice if you like your smoothie a little more runny.
  3. Drink with a straw; eat with a spoon; just devour!

My Take:

Add/Subtract ingredients as per your taste but make sure you keep in mind the good for skin and bad for skin ingredient list.
