Baked Hasselback Zucchini was my tweak this Memorial Day weekend on the traditional Swedish hasselback potatoes. The food photos spread out over the internet for the weekend were mostly of barbecues, salads and potatoes. Not being a great fan of mashed potatoes, I decided to feed my desire for potatoes and fancy food with baked hasselback zucchini. The garlic topping with the fresh herbs…. Ooo La la! Confession time again! While this foodilicious picture and description of my inspiration for the weekend makes it look like I had a super-productive weekend, it was quite the opposite. Not that I am claiming any… Continue reading

These chia strawberry pudding popsicles are just what I need to ward off the soaring Texas temperatures. Phew! It’s not even summer officially and 90’shave become the norm around here! The heat aside, I had a pretty good weekend. I just got onto the twitter bandwagon and my favorite Indian chef, (whose show I grew up watching) re-tweeted my tweet!! Woah! (The recipe was this one if you are interested in checking out). This is also the same feeling that inspires me when one of you mails me/leaves comment behind/messages on FB about how my recipe turned out and how… Continue reading

Pizza Pops

Presenting “Pizza Pops” – the lovechild of Pizza and lollipops or Pizza on a stick! Pardon the “cheesy” magician way of introducing this recipe guys. It is just that I have always wanted to stand in front of a curtain and say “Ta-Da!”. Just a fantasy of mine if you will 😀 Speaking of magicians and wizards, I really wish I had a wand. Oh ya! I have a souvenir wand from the Wizarding world of Harry Potter but I am currently wishing for a wand that actually works… So, if you have one of those, I am not asking… Continue reading

ROAST GREEN PEAS – CRUNCHY MUNCHIES

Roast Green Peas

Storms and rains was the perfect excuse to make these Roast Green Peas. Thunderstorms in the background a nice book or the newspaper, a hot cup of tea and some crunchy munchies that you can pop into your mouth after every other sentence; that’s what some of the best days in life are made of. Do you like it too? I have a confession. No judging. OK? The scene I described above makes me sound so scholarly and classy but I have a weakness. I love street food. The tackiest of them. The tackier, the better. Do you think I… Continue reading

WHITE CHOCOLATE MOUSSE SHOTS

White Chocolate Mousse Shots. Another week, another dessert. Dessert-lets rather. I don’t know who came up with the idea of having desserts in shot glasses, but they were a genius for sure! Just the right portion of sweet, soft and silky mousse with a dark chocolate brownie crumb…… And that right there is what you call a FOODGASM! 😀 You know the story. The my-husband-does-not-like-dark-chocolate-so-i-used-white chocolate story? Even if you don’t, I think you got more than just the gist from the title. They should use me as the script writer for movies. I can eliminate lots of bad movies… Continue reading

SPRING SALAD WITH TORTELLINI

Spring Salad with tortelleni

Assuaging my guilt for indulging in those luscious, decadent Drunken Brownies, I had salad as a part of more than one meal this week. Of the 2-3 salads I made, this Spring Salad with tortellini was the winner! Looks like the spring is here? Finally! I do not have to bundle up every time I step foot outside of my door. But I will miss having soups. Sigh… Nevertheless, I have decided to explore the vast avenue of salads and some homemade dressings. Not exactly a super low-calorie salad considering the pasta and the cheese in it but it sure… Continue reading

WHITE RADISH DIP | MULI RAITA

Radish Dip
FacebookTwitterEmailYummlyTumblrStumbleUponWhatsAppGoogle+

White radish dip commonly known as muli raita is something I make when the lunch has mostly dry components. Oh, and one more thing before I start yapping, this dip has only 50 calories per serving! Enjoy a guilt free game day (considering it is just around the corner). I usually make it to be served with rice/roti. This time too, I started out with the same intention but due to unavoidable circumstances (read-my husband wailing in hunger), I served it immediately. I spruced it up with some chopped mint leaves and served it with tortilla chips and poof! All… Continue reading

BAKED CAULIFLOWER IN A CHEESY SPINACH SAUCE

Baked Cauliflower

Baked Cauliflower was what I made to spruce up my lunch over the weekend. This weekend I was in a kind of I don’t-want-to-cook mood but the silly tummy does not get moods. It keeps rumbling and rumbling until you get that lazy ass off the couch and shove something into your mouth! It’s too late to pick up the phone and place an order too 🙁 Never mind, we have the safe fallback that every Indian resorts to – Dal Chawal of course! Although it is the most comforting food ever, I have this incessant need to eat some veggies… Continue reading
