A chilled creamy Pineapple soup that will transport you from spending a hot summer day on your couch right over to Hawaii or any other exotic tropical destination that you have always dreamed of. A wanderer, that’s definitely something every one of us must feel in a lifetime. Feeling like a wanderer and being consumed by the lust of finding your niche is just… Continue reading

Orange Cauliflower

This recipe for Orange Cauliflower is a vegetarian’s solution to the apparently amazing Orange chicken that is available at Panda Express. A sweet and sour (tending towards sweet) sauce flavored with freshly squeezed orange juice… new realms of joy! Blogging has been a roller-coaster ride for me. I know I know. Life itself is a roller-coster ride and the one who meets ups and downs with the same gusto emerges the winner. Blah blah blah! The meeting with same gusto thing is much easier said than done especially for someone like me who explodes with emotions at the drop of… Continue reading

Quinoa Crust Pizza

Healthy Pizza is not an oxymoron anymore with this Quinoa Crust Pizza! Hurray! Imagine all the pizza you can eat! Seriously, this pizza was so good and you really couldn’t make out that it did not have a bread crust. It made my husband go for 1, 2 and 3 slices! That’s when I realized, it’s not my brain pretending to like the crust just to make sure I eat healthy, but the crust is actually good! 😀 My inspiration for the quinoa crust pizza? My need to innovate with quinoa like I mentioned in my other innovative quiona post… Continue reading

Hare chane ke

Hare Chane ke Samose, an easy samosa recipe with a filling made of green garbanzo beans and the wrapper made of store bought spring roll wrappers. That makes this Hare chane ke samose recipe not only delicious but super easy. The thing about making your own samosas at home is that it comes with an alarmingly large amount of effort. Make the dough, knead it, let it rest, then roll out appropriately sized discs, make perfect little cones out of them, make the filling, stuff them and fry them. Phew! This huge list of tasks is what makes most of… Continue reading

Whole wheat Phulka Tacos

Phulka Tacos! The next under the “Makeovers for Leftovers” series, soft, foldable phulkas to these crunchy hard shell tacos have stolen my heart, mind, tongue and whatever else too! The fact they are whole wheat tacos and took just about 5 minutes to transition into their new avatars makes their case for them; Aint’t it?  The concept of frozen food has been introduced to Indians in the recent past (the last decade may be?). A leftover for family meal is an alien concept. I should correct that. Intentional leftovers for family meals were an alien concept. The reasons you hear… Continue reading

Grilled Broccoli Kebabs

Grilled Broccoli? Yum! Grilled Cauliflower? Delicaso! Tandoori masala? Oh yes! My dinner yesterday was a triple treat with the three coming together with a spicy cabbage  salad & homemade whole wheat tortillas (Phulkas). And, it was all super healthy, just about 200 calories per serving. Oh, did I mention that it was Deee-lectable? Because, it was indeed. So…. I am trying to eat healthy. Not for any particular reason, just for general well-being. Being the foodie that I am and with food blogging added, it is almost impossible for me to go on a crash diet or skip any meal in… Continue reading

Vegetable Shami Kebabs

A dish steeped in History, Shami kebabs just went vegetarian, check out these vegetable shami kebabs. As the legend goes, these kebabs were first introduced by Arabian chefs for Mughal rulers, actually a toothless Mughal ruler! 🙂 I have always been a fan of kebabs. Grilled, minced, sheikh, they all look so appealing. As always, I found a vegetarian work-around and came up with these kebabs for a potluck party I was attending. Made for 20 guests but finished by 12 since the 8 arrived late! Now, that is considered a hit dish, ain’t it? Potato and cheese/paneer blend together… Continue reading
